Mount Pleasant Is On The Cusp Of A Big Deal Barring Certain Barriers

On October 19, an assembly of Mount’s finest gathered in the office of Sonja Leighton, President of the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. The purpose was to review the terms of an agreement that will result in establishing a promising new venture in Mount Pleasant.

Discussions and negotiations have progressed to the final stage, signatures are imminent, followed by a press release.

A German based enterprise called Hi-Efficiency has been negotiating with financial institutions and the Chamber of Commerce about the terms and conditions surrounding the establishment of a North American Head Office and operations in Mount Pleasant is attractive.

Very quickly it was established that Hi -Efficiency is a viable company with strong credentials….well suited for success in North America.

Mount Pleasant and area is attractive for the availability of education at all levels and fields. Health care offerings are of quality with access to all disciplines.

Recreation, arts and sports are amply available and high in quality.

Corporate, personal and property taxes are competitive.

There is an extensive labor force available. Collectively they are experienced well trained and well acquainted with necessary safety awareness.

Financial incentives have been agreed on. They are particularly favorable for new ventures such as this one.

Air, rail, trucking and air transportation services make the area convenient.

Financial incentives are in place designed to attract a new ventures.

Mount Pleasant is located in a region with a long history of civility, excellent governance and a respected political system.

Executives from Hi-Efficiency are well aware Mount Pleasant is located in a country that is a Federation which is going through a period of unrest. One member is advocating for major changes in a long standing constitution. In their view this casts a cloud of uncertainty over any and all business related transactions.

Concern over taxation levels, mobility of a work force, and transportation come to mind. Equally changes to the educational, medical, recreational and social components are possibilities. Once again the possibility of significant alterations raise the level of uncertainty.

On a final note the Board Chair of Hi-Efficiency expressed a real interest in establishing operations in Mount Pleasant. She was forthright in explaining that two other locations were in competition without any political impediments. My Board of Directors are onside, expecting an early resolution to the constitution issue was to their satisfaction.
