Don Thurston

Don ThurstonDon’s skills as a portfolio manager were honed from an extensive and varied professional career. His formal education in engineering and business were backdrops to work in the natural resource, manufacturing, technology and finance industries. Along the way he occupied senior management experience as well as directorships in public and private Canadian corporations. In the mid nineties Don turned his attention to portfolio management.

Social change enterprises have been a consistent part of his career as a founder, funder, director and board chair. Currently he is on the board of a Calgary organization focused on lowering barriers that keep people in poverty, a national organization advancing the cause of community building , and a new initiative that facilitates learning exchange among Canada’s indigenous and southern peoples.

Don is an Engineering graduate from the University of Alberta and received an MBA from Queen’s University. He is a fellow of Engineers Canada, a fellow of Geoscientists Canada (Hon.) an Associate Member of the CFA Institute, and a Professional Engineer. He is an Honoured Alumni of the University of Alberta.
